Job summary

Tate Inc. in Columbia, MD (Hybrid) is seeking a CAD Designer/Engineer to deliver detailed layout and shop drawings for water systems, working with Sales Engineers and Project teams to translate concepts into buildable designs.

You will coordinate with customers and manufacturing, maintain revisions, and ensure drawings meet project standards while supporting installation and site execution. A related engineering degree and 2–4 years CAD drafting experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• 2–4 years of CAD drafting, engineering, or related experience.
• Familiarity with 2D layouts, shop drawings, and technical documentation development.
• Experience working with construction, manufacturing, or data center infrastructure projects preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and related documents.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam and Autodesk systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop CAD layouts and shop drawings for Technical and Facility water systems.
• Create detailed drawings for sales and procurement teams.
• Translate engineering concepts and customer specifications into accurate, buildable design documentation.
• Review drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project standards.
• Maintain drawing revisions ensuring version control and consistency across project documentation.
• Partner with sales, engineering, and project teams to align designs with customer requirements.
• Coordinate with project managers to support design deliverables aligned with project timelines.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet production and assembly requirements.
• Support field teams by providing accurate drawings for installation and site execution activities.
