Job summary

Tempus AI, Inc. is seeking a Bioinformatics Scientist to join the Liquid Biopsy Science team in California. The role centers on assay and algorithm development, optimization, and analytical validation of next-generation Liquid Biopsy assays for diagnostics, complete genomic profiling, and treatment monitoring.

The ideal candidate has a Ph.D. or Master’s with 3+ years in bioinformatics or related fields, strong Python/R skills, and experience with cloud platforms and workflow tools.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Master’s with 3+ years industry experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Cancer Biology, Genetics, Immunology, Molecular Biology, or Computer Science
• Proficient in Python and/or R with data science libraries
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP), Docker, and workflow tools (Nextflow, Snakemake)

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize assays, algorithms, ML and statistical models for NGS and multimodal data to detect oncology biomarkers
• Model tumor fraction estimation for longitudinal TRM analyses
• Improve molecular barcoding filtering to distinguish true biomarkers from artifacts
• Design classifiers to disambiguate CHIP from tumor variants
• Characterize analytical performance for regulatory submissions (CAP/CLIA, NYS, FDA, MolDx)
• Collaborate cross-functionally with wet-lab, clinical, biostatistics, software and product teams
