Tempus AI is seeking a Bioinformatics Scientist to advance liquid biopsy assay development, optimization, and analytical validation. You will develop ML models and workflows to analyze NGS and multimodal data for oncology biomarkers in cfDNA and track tumor fraction over time.

The role demands deep expertise in Python/R, ML, and cloud-based pipelines, with collaboration across wet-lab, clinical, and software teams to deliver production-scale analyses and regulatory-ready documentation.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or a Masters with 3+ years of industry experience in relevant fields.
• Deep knowledge of processing and analyzing multimodal NGS data.
• Proficiency in Python and/or R.
• Experience with cloud computing, containers, and workflow tools.
• Strong publication record or product development contributions.
• Strong statistical modeling and ML experience.
• Excellent communication skills and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• High-Sensitivity Biomarker Detection: develop and optimize assays, ML models for oncology biomarkers from cfDNA.
• Tumor Fraction Estimation, TRM modeling for longitudinal treatment response.
• Noise suppression and error correction via advanced barcoding filtering.
• CHIP disambiguation using ML classifiers and filtering logic.
• Analytical performance characterization for CAP/CLIA, NYS, FDA, MolDx submissions.
• Cross-functional collaboration with wet-lab, medical directors, statisticians, engineers.
