Job summary

SMXTech Pty Ltd. seeks a Linux System Administrator to support an embedded lab at NAS Patuxent River. The role patches, scans, backs up, and applies STIGs to meet DoD security standards while maintaining lab systems and applications.

The ideal candidate has strong Linux expertise, shell scripting, and Ansible automation, with 3+ years experience and the ability to obtain/maintain Secret clearance; Top Secret eligibility, onsite full-time.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of related experience.
• Security+ certification (or higher) is required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Secret clearance; Top Secret eligibility.
• Onsite work at NAS Patuxent River full-time.
• Proficiency with Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu/Solaris/CentOS).
• Shell scripting and Ansible experience are required.
• Foundational troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide hardware support for deployed lab systems.
• Install, configure, and support OS and application software.
• Perform compliance tasks including STIG application, patching, backups, and vulnerability scanning across all lab devices.
• Develop and maintain Linux scripts to support system administration tasks.
• Create and maintain Ansible playbooks for automation of administrative and compliance activities.
• Troubleshoot technical issues across hardware, OS, applications, and network connectivity.
• Work collaboratively with other administrators and engineers to ensure lab systems remain secure and operational.
