Job description
Provision and support Linux virtual machines on VMware ESXi and Linux instances in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
Install, configure, patch, and maintain RHEL and Oracle Linux 8 (OL8) systems according to enterprise standards.
Perform OS patching and lifecycle maintenance using dnf/yum, including kernel updates, validation, and rollback troubleshooting.
Manage storage and filesystems, including LVM, XFS, mounts, and persistent /etc/fstab configurations.
Configure and troubleshoot system networking, DNS resolution, hostnames, and TCP/IP port connectivity.
Administer users, groups, permissions, SSH key based access, and privilege controls.
Troubleshoot OS level issues involving boot processes, systemd services, performance, disk usage, and networking.
Provide OS level support for applications, including working knowledge of Apache Tomcat (startup/shutdown, logs, ports, JVM options, TLS configuration).
Configure, manage, and troubleshoot cron jobs for system and application scheduling tasks.
Maintain system security posture, including SELinux, vulnerability remediation, and audit readiness.
Perform routine Linux administration, documentation, and basic automation using shell scripting.
Preferred: Exposure to containerized environments and working knowledge of Kubernetes concepts (pods, services, basic troubleshooting).
General knowledge of Service now, inventory submissions and routine documentation, checklists ect.
