Job summary

The Judge Group is seeking a Linux Engineer to manage daily operations and maintain a Linux server environment. This long-term contract role is hybrid, requiring 3 days per week in Downtown Chicago, working with the Virtualization and System Administration teams.

Responsibilities include maintaining uptime, standardization of OS images, and leading incident resolution with Red Hat Linux. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in Linux in large data centers and OpenShift/Docker/Kubernetes experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Linux configuration and operation in large real or virtual datacenters.
• Bash/Python scripting experience.
• Expert-level experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
• OpenShift/Docker/Kubernetes experience.

Job description

The Linux Engineer is responsible for daily operations and maintenance of the Linux server environment. This role works closely with the Virtualization and System Administration teams to fully manage the maintenance outage response, and operational support of the environment.

This is a long term contract role that must be hybrid 3 days per week in Downtown Chicago

• Provides a second level of Red Hat Linux support; leads service incident and problem resolution efforts to support entrusted applications/products


• Leads troubleshooting of application, Red Hat Linux operating system(s) server hardware, network communications and storage problems within infrastructure


• Creates and maintains standard OS installation images for virtualization templates

Experience Required

• 5+ years of Linux configuration and operation in large real or virtual datacenters


• Intermediate or higher-level experience scripting in Python, Perl, or Bash


• Expert-level experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux


• IBM AIX experience


• Novice or higher-level experience with Red Hat Open Shift Container Platform and/or Docker and Kubernetes
