Job summary

Visual Soft, Inc. in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Senior Linux System Administrator with an active TS clearance to support AWS cloud environments for a classified defense program.

The role is fully onsite in Huntsville, requiring DoD-compliant security practices and strong automation skills. The ideal candidate will manage RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu, design AWS infrastructure, and implement infrastructure-as-code with Terraform/CloudFormation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of hands-on Linux system administration experience (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
• Proven experience managing cloud infrastructure in AWS (VPC, EC2, EBS, S3, IAM, CloudFormation, CloudWatch).
• Proficiency in troubleshooting networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, load balancers).
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, AWS CodePipeline).
• Working knowledge of security hardening (STIGs, CIS benchmarks) and RMF controls.
• Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) in classified and unclassified environments.
• Design, implement, and maintain AWS infrastructure (VPC, EC2, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, RDS, EFS).
• Automate provisioning, configuration, and deployment tasks using Ansible, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
• Monitor system performance, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement performance tuning.
• Patch and harden Linux systems to meet DISA STIG and RMF compliance requirements.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and security policies in accordance with DoD standards.
• Support and integrate CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure continuous monitoring and incident response.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum sprints, providing infrastructure support to development and QA teams.
