Job summary

Shield Consulting Solutions in Annapolis Junction, MD is seeking a Linux Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain tools and services that support Atlassian products like Jira and Confluence.

Linux Software Engineer (Annapolis Junction, MD)

Basic Requirements

• 7 years of experience as a software engineer
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline
  • 2 additional years of experience as a software engineer may be substituted for a degree

Job Description

• The Software Engineer shall be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining tools and services in support of the Atlassian’s suite of products including Jira and Confluence.
• The Software Engineer shall work closely with cross-functional teams including software developers, system administrators, project managers, and mission customers to deliver seamless integrations that enhance productivity and streamline workflows.

Required Experience

• Experience using the Linux CLI and Linux Tools
• Experience writing Bash/PHP scripts to automate administrative tasks and workflows
• Recent software development experience using Python and Java
• Experience using an integrated development environment such as the Atlassian plugin software developer kit (SDK)
• Experience with IaC principles and automation tools such as Ansible
• Experience with CI/CD principles, methodologies, and tools such as GitLab CI
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker
• Experience creating documentation of configurations, procedures, and system changes
• Experience with Git for source code management, branching strategies, and team collaboration

Desired Experience

• Experience with sustaining mission applications deployed in a Linux environment
• Experience with interacting/training external customers

Salary

Salary: $230,000 - $240,000 annually
