Job summary

Assertive Professionals is seeking a Level 2 Quality Assurance Linux Administrator to support a National Security Customer near Hanover, MD. This funded and immediate role focuses on enterprise Linux administration, patching, and security compliance using Puppet for configuration management.

You will maintain Rocky Linux 9 baseline, troubleshoot IT systems, and ensure secure, compliant operations across servers, storage, and networks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline is required.
• Nine (9) or more years of Linux experience for Level 2 is required.
• Experience with Linux administration and Rocky Linux 9 or similar enterprise Linux distributions.
• Knowledge of web technologies (HTML, XML, Java/JEE) is preferred.
• Experience with Puppet or similar configuration management tooling is required.
• Bash programming/scripting experience is required.
• Perl and/or Python programming experience is required.
• Experience with virtualization technologies is required.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain an enterprise Rocky Linux 9 baseline.
• Ensure Linux systems remain compliant with security requirements.
• Perform system patching and configuration updates for security compliance.
• Use Puppet or similar configuration management to maintain secure configurations.
• Configure, administer, troubleshoot, and maintain Linux operating systems.
• Create Bash scripts to support stability and deployment repeatability.
• Manage daily configuration and operation of IT systems.
• Provide troubleshooting support and resolution for hardware and software issues.
• Diagnose and resolve system hardware and software problems, assisting through resolution.
