Job description

Description

Etherstack is an innovative, established global company with a start-up culture that provides a range of wireless communications solutions and specialize in mission critical infrastructure. They have a large presence internationally, and are continuing to expand and grow their North American presence. The North American group has consistently grown through various large carrier contracts (Example: AT&T FirstNet) and they are quickly approaching the deployment of new hardware/software and applications which is driving the need to add to the team.

Etherstack is currently looking to expand the team at their Dallas location to add a Sr. Telecomm Systems Administrator to support the deployment/"Go-Live" of their hardware/applications (Interworking function) at an increased scale. The Systems/Network Admin will be a core member of their 24/7/365 Operations team to provide Tier 3 layer support for networking and IT administration for ECS (Emergency Communication Service). The network admins day- to- day can vary, but duties are not limited to the following: 1- serve as a point of escalation, 2. Diagnose, Troubleshoot, or elevate tickets, 3. Proactively monitor systems, 4. Assess performance and perform upgrades, 5. Maintain and create SOP's for responses and troubleshooting, maintain/administer accounts, test/deploy software, etc.. The day to day and variation of duties will be heavier on responsiveness to the Go-Live in the start. Depending on volume, various duties can be peeled off (again, start up environment where they have the autonomy to scale if needed)

You will design (More optimization as the design is already completed), implement, and maintain network operations across Etherstack's global offices and cloud deployments, with a strong DevOps mindset automating workflows, managing infrastructure as code, and building repeatable, resilient processes. You will be responsible for maintaining comprehensive documentation of IT policies, procedures, hardware, and software.

While this position is somewhat broad, the number one is incident commander.

Key Responsibility Areas
  • Act as a first technical point of response and primary customer technical contact during production incidents, owning the investigation from initial detection through service restoration and follow-up.
  • Perform hands‑on troubleshooting across the complete service environment, including Linux systems, IP networks, firewalls, Pacemaker/Corosync clusters, Galera database clusters, virtualization, applications, and customer connectivity.
  • Diagnose complex Linux and network problems using command-line tools, logs, monitoring data, routing information, and packet captures using tools such as tcpdump and Wireshark.
  • Troubleshoot routing, switching, firewall, VPN, TCP/UDP, performance, and connectivity problems, including packet loss, latency, asymmetric routing, and other service‑impacting network conditions.
  • Troubleshoot highly available Linux and database environments, including Pacemaker/Corosync and Galera, with issues involving quorum, failover, cluster communication, replication, synchronization, and recovery.
  • Coordinate internal engineering teams, customers, network/data‑center providers, and other third parties when additional assistance is required while maintaining technical ownership of the incident.
  • Design, deploy, maintain, patch, harden, monitor, and improve Etherstack's Linux, network, clustering, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Perform root‑cause analysis, execute controlled production changes, maintain technical documentation, and develop Bash/Python automation to improve operations and troubleshooting.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to IT, computer science, or telecommunications. (Relevant years of experience will suffice as well)
  • Juniper Engineer level certification in both Routing and Switching (JNCIP) and Network Security (JNCIP-SEC). (Again this is desired, but not mandatory as they can have the experience with other manufacturers).
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), and Red Hat Certified Specialist in Security certifications. (Cert is desired, but not mandatory)
