Job summary

TierPoint, LLC. is seeking a Linux Engineer I to join the Linux OS team in 24x7 operational support for managed services customers. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong Linux knowledge and exceptional customer service, translating technical issues into clear language.

Reports to the Manager OS Managed Services. The role focuses on planning, installing, and providing daily operational support for Linux environments, handling high-severity incidents, and collaborating with other teams

Qualifications

• Technical training in Information technology, engineering, computer science or equivalent experience.
• Excellent customer facing communication skills (both written and verbal)
• 1 year of experience of managing enterprise Linux environments.

Responsibilities

• Provides quality internal and external customer service surrounding the Company values.
• Manage the flow of incoming customer requests to maintain Customer Request Fulfillment process expectations
• Communicate expectations, assignments and responsibilities clearly and professionally.
• Participate in an on-call escalation support rotation to ensure 24x7x365 coverage for critical infrastructure and customer systems.
• Plan, install, and provide daily operational support for managed customer Linux environments
• Ensure timely resolution of high severity incidents, including communications, reporting, and tracking of follow-ups.
• Follows technical documentation for customer environments, processes, standards, and support procedures.
• Collaborate closely with other operations teams and architecture to efficiently resolve service incidents; ensuring service availability levels are met.
• Desire to improve upon existing systems and automate processes, including writing and maintaining documentation
• Other duties as assigned.

Overview

The Linux Engineer I will be part of a Linux OS team in the 24x7 operational support of TierPoint managed services customers. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge in Linux operating systems. The candidate must also have outstanding customer service skills, and the ability to translate technical issues into common language. The Linux Engineer reports to the Manager OS Managed Services.

Responsibilities

  Preferred Experience

  • Previous managed service provider experience
  • Experience in complex multi data center environments with 24x7, mission critical operations

It’s important to note the pay range may be narrower than displayed, as various factors are used to determine the offered compensation package including skill set, level of experience, geographic locations, and other relevant factors- i.e. budgetary requirements.Pay Range $60,000.00- $97,778.29
