Job summary

Hubbell Incorporated's Boonton, NJ site is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, troubleshoot and deliver embedded firmware for complex products in the electric utility market.

The role requires strong Linux development skills, C programming, RTOS/interrupt handling, and experience with debugging tools like oscilloscopes and logic analyzers; you'll work with a cross-functional team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in EE/SE/CS/CE.
• 3+ years of embedded firmware/software programming experience.
• Experience with embedded microprocessor-based design and interfacing to analog/digital devices.
• Proficiency in C for embedded systems with multiple IDEs.
• Strong understanding of real-time systems, interrupts, threads, and RTOS/non-RTOS.
• Knowledge of wired/wireless protocols (Ethernet, I2C, RS232, RS485/422, SPI, BLE).
• Ability to read schematics and debug hardware with oscilloscope/logic analyzer.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Self-driven, able to work on multiple projects.
• Familiarity with SNMP, DNP, IEC61850 is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Identify unit testing needs with the development team.
• Evaluate software requirements, designs, and implementations; identify weaknesses and test coverage.
• Develop test strategies including white box and unit testing.
• Create testing tools/frameworks for software unit testing.
• Follow SSDLC and coding best practices.
• Work in a fast-paced, goal-oriented product development environment.
• Deliver secure, robust embedded systems for infrastructure/industrial apps.
• Provide innovative solutions to complex problems.
