Job summary

Markesman Group seeks a Linux software engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain capabilities supporting Computer Network Operations (CNO) missions at Fort Meade. You will primarily work in C/C++ and Python on Linux, engaging with OS internals, networking, and system interfaces.

The role involves debugging, prototyping, and transitioning capabilities to production, with collaboration across vulnerability researchers, reverse engineers, and other developers.

Qualifications

• Experience developing software in Linux environments.
• Strong development experience with C and/or C++.
• Experience with Python, Bash, or other scripting languages.
• Understanding of Linux operating system concepts: processes, memory, files, permissions, networking.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, network protocols, sockets, and client/server communications.
• Experience debugging using tools such as GDB or similar.
• Experience with Git or other software configuration management tools.
• Ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop effective software solutions.
• Ability to work independently as well as within a collaborative technical team.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Linux-based software capabilities supporting CNO missions.
• Develop software primarily in C/C++ and Python for Linux environments.
• Work with low-level Linux functionality, OS internals, networking, processes, memory, and system interfaces.
• Develop and integrate software capabilities that interact with network protocols and target environments.
• Debug and troubleshoot complex software issues using standard Linux development and diagnostic tools.
• Perform software analysis, testing, and technical research to identify solutions.
• Develop prototypes and transition capabilities into operational software.
• Collaborate with vulnerability researchers, reverse engineers, analysts, and other developers across the lifecycle.
• Participate in code reviews, configuration management, testing, documentation, and releases.
• Support existing CNO capabilities through troubleshooting and enhancements.
