Job summary

Markesman Group is seeking a software engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain Linux-based capabilities for CNO missions. You will code in C/C++ and Python on Linux, working with system internals, networking, and measurement interfaces, based in Fort Meade, MD.

The role focuses on debugging with GDB, collaborating with researchers and analysts, and delivering robust, production-ready software through rigorous testing and documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience developing software in Linux environments.
• Strong C/C++ development experience.
• Experience with Python and Bash scripting.
• Solid understanding of Linux OS concepts.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, sockets, and networking.
• Experience debugging with tools such as GDB.
• Experience with Git or other software configuration management tools.

• Ability to work independently as well as within a collaborative technical team.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Linux-based software capabilities supporting Computer Network Operations (CNO) missions.
• Develop software primarily in C/C++ and Python for Linux environments.
• Work with low-level Linux functionality, operating system internals, networking, processes, memory, and system interfaces.
• Develop and integrate software capabilities that interact with network protocols, operating systems, and target environments.
• Debug and troubleshoot complex software issues using standard Linux development and diagnostic tools.
• Perform software analysis, testing, and technical research to identify potential solutions to mission requirements.
• Develop prototypes and transition successful capabilities into operationally supportable software.
• Collaborate with vulnerability researchers, reverse engineers, analysts, and other software developers throughout the development lifecycle.
• Participate in code reviews, configuration management, testing, documentation, and software release activities.
• Support existing CNO capabilities through troubleshooting, enhancements, and technical updates.
