Job summary

The City of Ukiah is hiring an experienced lineworker to build and maintain overhead and underground distribution systems. Under general supervision, you will climb poles, install line equipment, transfer energized lines, and perform emergency repairs.

This position requires high safety standards and the ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must have a journeyman apprenticeship, a valid Class A California license, CPR, and high voltage rubber

Qualifications

• Completion of an apprenticeship program resulting in journeyman status.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Class A California Driver's License.
• Current CPR card and training in Confined Space, First Responder Haz-Mat, Flagging Traffic Control, and Pole Top Bucket Rescue.
• High Voltage Electrical Rubber Gloving Certification or ability to obtain within 60 days from hire.

Responsibilities

• Construct and maintain overhead and underground transmission lines.
• Install transformers, switches, and street lights.
• Troubleshoot system and perform emergency repairs.
• Transfer energized primary lines and test line equipment.
• Assist Apprenticeship training and on-call duties including nights, weekends, and holidays.
