Job summary

Pedernales Electric Cooperative is seeking a Lineman Apprentice to support the operation, maintenance, construction, and repair of transmission and distribution systems. The role involves climbing poles, operating trucks and equipment, and progressing through laddered training to Lineman Apprentice 2.

The position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, completion of DOL Apprenticeship Level 1A, and a Texas Class A CDL.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Successful completion of Department of Labor approved Apprenticeship Program requirements for Apprentice Level 1A.
Obtain a valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and Motor Vehicle Report that comply with PEC policy.

Responsibilities

Climb poles and work on de-energized poles and lines.
Develop and maintain familiarity with operation and maintenance of boom truck, digger, bucket truck and pulling units.
Assist in digging holes and setting poles.
Assist experienced Linemen as needed.
Study and complete training manual.
Attend and complete climbing school within six months of hire date.
Progress to Lineman Apprentice 2 status through scheduled training.
Demonstrate safety compliance and diligent learning.
Maintain vehicle cleanliness.
Must be available for Call-Out duty.
Operate PEC vehicles for business purposes under PEC policies.
