Job summary

Chain Electric Company is seeking an Apprentice Lineman B to join our team in Richland, Mississippi. The role involves semi-skilled work in building, maintaining, and repairing overhead distribution systems, requiring climbing, operation of bucket trucks, and cable splicing.

Applicants should have at least 2.5 years in groundman/lineman roles, a CDL-B, willingness to travel, and the ability to work long hours in varying weather. Must live within an hour of Richland and provide own tools.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 1/2 years’ experience in groundman and lineman work; lineman training school qualifies.
Ability to travel at a moment’s notice, anytime.
Available to work irregular hours, weekends and holidays, as needed.
Possess at a minimum a valid CDL-B license.
Must live within one-hour drivetime of Richland, MS.
Ability to handle physically demanding construction duties in harsh weather conditions.
Ability to read and follow instructions.
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Must be able to see long distances and differentiate colors with depth perception and peripheral vision.

Responsibilities

Regular attendance and punctuality.
Adhere to safety practices and procedures; report unsafe conditions or practices.
Climb poles or use bucket access equipment at heights.
Construct, maintain, and repair electrical distribution systems and substations.
String wire conductors and cables; set lines in place and adjust tension.
Dig holes and set poles with cranes and power equipment.
Splice or solder cables to overhead lines using appropriate tools.
Lay underground cables directly in trenches or via conduits.
