Job summary

Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) seeks a Lineman Apprentice to perform the operations, maintenance, construction, and repair of transmission and distribution systems. The role includes constructing and maintaining overhead and underground lines, inspecting equipment, and responding to outages.

Candidates must complete the Department of Labor Lineman Apprenticeship Program for Apprentice Level 2, hold a Texas Class A CDL, and possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of Department of Labor approved Lineman Apprenticeship Program requirements for Apprentice Level 2.
• Valid Texas Class A CDL required.

Responsibilities

• Construct and maintain overhead and underground electric lines and equipment.
• Inspect existing primary and secondary power lines and substation equipment.
• Investigate trouble on lines and locate cause of power outages.
• Maintain and service, including cleaning and repairing, all tools and equipment.
• Perform rubber glove work on energized lines from an aerial device.
• Work on de-energized or grounded lines or equipment, both from the pole or an aerial device.
• Demonstrate the more complex duties of a Lineman under supervision with some instruction.
• Must be available for Call-Out duty.
• Maintain the security of confidential information.
