Job summary

American Electric Power in Duncan, OK is hiring a Lineman Apprentice (3rd Year) to assist in installing, maintaining, and inspecting transmission and distribution facilities. You will drive line trucks, climb poles, and work on energized lines with safety gear.

A High School Diploma or GED and two years of electrical line experience are required, along with a valid CDL A license and resident distance within the service area.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two years of electrical line work experience.
• Must possess and maintain a CDL A license.
• Must live within 35 mile radius, 40 roadway miles of service location.

Responsibilities

• Opens and closes switches and installs grounding devices to lines and equipment.
• Climbs poles and/or rides in bucket to install or repair wires, arms, insulators or other hardware on poles.
• Installs and repairs underground facilities such as cable, transformers, potheads and pedestals.
• Installs pole hardware and associated equipment using hand tools and devices.
• Performs energized line work with safety gear.
