Serta Simmons Bedding in Grovetown, GA is seeking a Manufacturing position within the MFG Hourly function. You will help keep conveyors loaded, move units and materials, and support continuous production in a fast-paced plant environment.

This role contributes to delivering quality sleep products to customers while maintaining safety standards. Requirements include basic reading/writing in English, ability to stand for long periods, and lifting up to 120 lbs with team lifting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for keeping the Mattress or Box Spring Upholstery conveyor full of materials. Suppliers work off the daily schedule and place the proper units, covers and filling materials together as a pre-build on the conveyor or bulk feed system in a timely manner.
• Lifts, carries and places units on conveyor or carts (up to 40 lbs.).
• Lifts, carries and places insulators and upholstery items on unit or carts.
• Lifts, carries and places cover on insulators.
• Pushes foundation or mattress units and components to work stations as needed.
• Read tag to be able to organize the correct components.
• Pushes z-carts of covers to work area from storage area.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Ability to sort items along with good organizational skills
• Good hand/eye coordination
• Must be able to comprehend and follow work instructions and production tickets. Must be able to understand and follow verbal instructions; communicate with coworkers and management clearly and respectfully; and work in an ever-changing, fast-paced team environment.

Experience/Education

• Basic ability to read and write English
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to work safely, take initiative, multi-task, and work both independently and as a part of a team. Work experience with pneumatic tools and/or in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Must stand and walk for a minimum of 8 hours per day or longer in overtime situations as required. Also must be able to lift heavy product or raw materials up to 120 pounds multiple times per hour during an 8-hour shift or longer in overtime situations to meet customer demand. Heavy loads must be team-lifted. A work pace that maintains integrity of make-to-order system is required.
• Safety-focused, fast-paced manufacturing plant engaged in Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement. Work environment includes a clean and safe work area and exposure to high noise decibels, hot raw materials, fire-retardant materials, and limited chemicals. Personal Protective Equipment is required to be worn for any hazards and is supplied by the company.
