Job summary

The City of Anaheim is seeking a highly skilled Line Mechanic to install, maintain, and test overhead and underground electrical distribution systems and related infrastructure. The role emphasizes teamwork, customer service, and technical acumen in a demanding environment.

Qualifications include journey-level experience or completion of a formal Line Mechanic Apprenticeship, knowledge of electrical theory and rigging, and the ability to safely operate line and bucket trucks.

Qualifications

• Journey level experience as a Line Mechanic or completion of a formal Line Mechanic Apprenticeship program.
• Knowledge of electrical theory and construction including rigging; overhead and underground construction standards; state laws governing construction; safe work practices and basic first aid.
• Ability to operate line and bucket trucks and other maintenance equipment; work with energized lines and adhere to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate line and bucket trucks and other equipment used in maintenance of high and low voltage systems.
• Frame, erect and climb poles.
• Install conductors, switches, transformers, and other equipment for distribution systems.
• Install meters and transfer high/low voltage conductors between structures.
• Inspect and repair street light standards and wiring; install new lights and fixtures.
• Interpret electrical plans and joint pole authorizations.
