Job summary

American Electric Power in Wooster, OH is seeking a Line Mechanic C to install, maintain and inspect overhead and underground facilities. The role builds on Line Mechanic D skills and progresses through C, B, then A classifications with supervision scaling.

Qualifications

Minimum of one year distribution electrical power line work experience.
OR one year of related line experience defined as: completion of a one-year electrical power line school certificate plus 16 weeks internship or distribution electrical power line experience.
Or an Associate degree from an electrical power line school with 16 weeks internship or distribution electrical power line experience.

Responsibilities

Assemble, install, maintain, remove and inspect overhead and underground facilities including conductors, cables, transformers and structures.
Use test equipment and perform energization tasks under supervision as skill level dictates.
Progress through classification levels from C to B to A with increasing responsibility and supervision.
Direct the work of helpers and ensure safety procedures are followed.
Complete required apprenticeship documentation and comply with company guidelines.
