Job summary

DEFIFOODS GROUP INTERNATIONAL INC in Defiance, Ohio, is seeking a Line Lead to oversee the Line Operation and labor force in chocolate production, ensuring first quality, food-safe products meeting weight, temper and visual specs.

You will set up depositors and tempering units, monitor line speed and weight checks, perform SPC recordkeeping, and supervise wrap, labeling and packaging to maintain production goals.

Qualifications

  • Math: addition/subtraction of multi-digit numbers and operations with weights (metric/standard).
  • Reasoning: apply written and oral instructions to machinery.
  • Physical demands: stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Mechanical aptitude required.

Responsibilities

  • Set up Depositor and/or Nut Mixer and tempering Unit per Production Schedule.
  • Follow the Product SOP for chocolate, temperature settings, and line speed.
  • Verify proper chocolate temper with a Tricor temper meter.
  • Record slope and CTU measurements on an SPC chart.
  • Perform OPRP screen checks and document results.
  • Ensure proper molds on the line according to Production Schedule.
  • Verify empty mold temperature with infrared thermometer before chocolate deposit.
  • Verify chocolate deposit weight/volume by hand depositing on a weight pan.
  • Tare pan, weigh, and calculate average weight per bar.
  • Monitor line points and document at designated times.
  • Ensure proper demoulding of chocolate bars.
  • Record product weight checks on SPC chart.
  • Make Depositor adjustments to maintain weights within range.
  • Ensure proper wrapping/packing materials and seals.

Job description

TITLE: Line Lead

Department: Production

Reports to: Production Supervisor/Manager

SUMMARY

Oversees the Line Operation and labor Force. This encompasses Chocolate Melting, Tempering, Moulding, Wrapping, and Finished Goods Pack Out. Responsible for producing first quality, food safe product meeting weight, temper and visual specifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Set up Depositor and/or Nut Mixer and tempering Unit in accordance with the Production Schedule

  2. Follow the Product SOP for proper chocolate, temperature settings, Line speed, etc

  3. Verify proper chocolate temper by use of a Tricor temper meter

  4. Record the Slope and CTU measurements on an SPC chart.

  5. Perform OPRP screen checks and document

  6. Ensure proper molds are on the line in accordance with the Production Schedule

  7. Verify proper empty mold temperature with an infrared thermometer just before chocolate deposit

  8. Verify chocolate deposit is of the proper weight and volume by Hand depositing on a weight pan.

  9. Tare the empty pan on a scale, place the pan under the depositor for 1 stroke. Remove the pan, weight and calculate the average weight per bar.

  10. Monitor specified points on the line and document at designated time intervals.

  11. Ensure proper demoulding of chocolate bars

  12. Product Weight Checks

  13. Record on SPC chart

  14. Make proper Depositor adjustments to maintain chocolate bar weights within an acceptable range

  15. Ensure proper product wrap and packing materials are being used

  16. Ensure a properly wrapped product (seals, folds, and gluing)

  17. Ensure proper coding and labeling of product and/or FG package

  18. Responsible for FG production paperwork and reporting

Additional Duties
  1. Disassemble/Reassemble Depositor Block, Pistons and Plates.

  2. Chocolate Changeovers

  3. Switching over from one chocolate system to another

  4. Scrape chocolate hopper(s)

  5. Empty and Flush Depositor equipment with the next chocolate being run

  6. After a nut run, the entire depositor is disassembled for cleaning

  7. Oversees Foil roll changes and/or product changeovers on the wrappers

  8. Reacts to and resolves downtime occurrences from chocolate melting to FG packing

  9. Metal Detector checks

  10. Comply with all Safety policies, report safety violations, and attend team and safety meetings

  11. Report problems regarding Food Safety to Supervisor or Manager.

  12. Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  13. Follow GMPs

  14. Train new employees as required

  15. Enforce all above policies and procedures.

  16. Maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner.

  17. Perform other related duties as requested

  18. Required to work until the end of the production shift daily.

  2. Ability to add and subtract three or more digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using both standard and metric weight measurements, volume and distance.

  6. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, handle objects, tools or controls. Reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
