Job summary

The Ruby Slipper Cafe in Baton Rouge is seeking a motivated kitchen team member to accurately and efficiently prepare hot food and portions, including garnishes, for service.

This role emphasizes following Ruby Standards and recipes, maintaining a clean working area, and clear communication with managers and kitchen staff. With at least 1 year of kitchen experience, the position offers days-only shifts and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking.
• Able to follow Ruby Standards and recipes consistently – responsible for the quality of products served
• Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen, and front of house krewe members
• Be able to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 50lbs
• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 10 hours)

Responsibilities

• Accurately and efficiently prepare hot food products and prepare/portion food prior to cooking
• Perform duties in food and final plate preparation including plating and garnishing
• Prepare appropriate garnishes for all hot menu item plates
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work area
• Follow Ruby Standards and recipes to ensure quality and consistency

Job Summary:

Accurately and efficiently prepare hot food products as well as prepare and portion food prior to cooking. Responsible for performing other duties in the areas of food and final plate preparation including plating and garnishing of cooked items and preparing appropriate garnishes for all hot menu item plates.
