Job Description

Are you passionate about food and culinary excellence? Join MSK as a Cook to enhance your skills in a dynamic environment and contribute to our mission of ending cancer for life. We focus on creating exceptional dining experiences for patients, caregivers, visitors, and staff.

We are seeking experienced Cooks to join our Food & Nutrition team at our main campus located at 1275 York Ave, Upper East Side. Under the guidance of our Executive Chef and Chef de Cuisine, you will prepare dishes following standardized recipes with precision.

As a Cook at MSK, you will:
  • Prepare various food items according to recipes and departmental standards.
  • Manage multiple stations including grill, sauté, prep, salad, and desserts.
  • Use batch cooking techniques to ensure freshness and quality.
  • Maintain high standards of food presentation and temperature control.
  • Handle last-minute and specialty orders efficiently.
  • Operate kitchen equipment carefully and report maintenance needs.
  • Collaborate with team members for seamless workflow and quality outcomes.
Requirements:
  • 2+ years of experience in fast-paced culinary environments such as restaurants, hotels, or quick-service establishments.
  • Proficiency in various cooking techniques and knowledge of standard recipes across multiple stations.
  • Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and presentation standards.
  • Ability to follow recipes, perform basic math, and lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Food Handler's Certificate, Culinary Arts certification, or culinary training preferred; open to new culinary graduates.
Additional Information:
  • Location: 1275 York Ave (Main Campus)
  • Full-time position with varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Report to Chef de Cuisine, Retail.
