Job summary

The San Antonio Food Bank INC is seeking a kitchen teammate to support daily meal preparation for Haven residents and satellite services, ensuring meals meet CACFP and USDA requirements.

You will pack and transport meals, maintain clean, safe work areas, supervise volunteers, and document production records. Candidates should have at least 1 year of food service experience or culinary training, and ServSafe or Food Handler certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year’s food service experience or completion of Culinary Arts Program.
• ServSafe Certification or Food Handler’s Certification required.
• Adequate communication skills.
• Ability to manage time efficiently and to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Ability to work cooperatively with other staff, volunteers, and agency personnel.
• Orientation to detail, accuracy, and the meeting of deadlines.
• Good judgment and discretion.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing meals for Haven residents Monday-Sunday and satellite services per CACFP/USDA requirements.
• Pack, load and transport community meals to partners throughout the San Antonio area.
• Adhere to planned menus to conserve food costs.
• Maintain clean, sanitary kitchen environment and follow health standards.
• Maintain inventory records and use FIFO; supervise check-in for accuracy.
• Instruct, supervise and engage volunteers; document production records.
