Job summary

The San Antonio Food Bank INC is seeking a kitchen/food service assistant to support Hunter's Essential Functions, Mays Kitchen, and Catalyst Catering across seasonal periods. The role involves cleaning, food prep, and assisting volunteers in processing and packaging food items.

The position requires flexible scheduling, including weekends and early mornings, with tasks across catering, kitchen support, and inventory management. Prior food service and safety knowledge is valued.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year’s food service experience or completion of Culinary Arts Program.
• ServSafe Certification or Food Handler’s Certification required.
• Experience in cleaning and sanitation preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety practices and HACCP is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Sanitize work areas and equipment to maintain cleanliness and food safety standards.
• Document key information in Excel sheets.
• After training, guide volunteers to complete food processing activities (cutting, packaging, labeling).
• Prepare venison and other game while following food safety standards; assist with loading/unloading game.
