Job summary

Bear Flag Fish Co is seeking a Line Cook to join our team in Newport Beach, CA. You will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes according to our standards in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

The role requires a strong sense of timing, knife skills, and the ability to follow recipes and customer requests while maintaining high quality and consistency across all plates.

Qualifications

• Proficient in preparing menu items to recipes and requests.
• Able to work flexible shifts including evenings and weekends.
• Experienced with a variety of kitchen tools and sharp knives.
• Able to follow oral and written instructions reliably.
• Capable of multitasking under pressure in a busy kitchen.
• Comfortable working in tight spaces with varying temps and noise.
• Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand long periods.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items per recipes and standards, ensuring quality and presentation.
• Adhere to portion controls and prep standards to maintain consistency and control costs.
• Monitor temperatures and use thermometers to ensure safe cooking and storage.
• Report food quality issues or delays to kitchen staff promptly.
• Ensure dishes meet station and restaurant quality expectations.
• Follow procedures for allergies and dietary restrictions to ensure guest safety.
• Maintain health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and keep equipment clean.
• Undertake additional tasks as needed to support kitchen operations.
