Job summary

Blue Moon TapHouse in Norfolk, VA seeks an experienced Cook to handle daily kitchen duties in a fast-paced environment. You will prepare and cook orders, manage inventory, and help maintain sanitation and safety standards in coordination with supervisors.

Ideal candidates have at least one year of line cooking experience, culinary certification preferred, and strong communication skills to work with team members and occasionally guests. Nights, weekends, and holidays may be required.

Qualifications

• At least one year experience of cooking on a fast paced kitchen line.
• Culinary certified training preferred.
• Basic knowledge of cooking, following recipes, portion control, and presentation.
• Good communication with cooks, wait staff and supervisors.
• Reading/writing abilities for recipes, scheduling, and inventory.
• Math skills including percentages, quantities and variances.
• Alcohol awareness certification/food handler card as required by local/state rules.
• May need to work nights, weekends and/or holidays.

Responsibilities

• Control food usage to minimize waste.
• Prepare and cook orders for daily operations in a timely manner.
• Advise supervisor of low inventory items; assist in receiving items and taking inventory as required.
• Restock items as needed through the shift.
• Maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards in the kitchen area per Health Board standards.
• Keep work area clean, neat, and organized (reach-ins, walk-ins, counters).
• Report unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.
• May assist by performing ware washing or other kitchen duties as needed.
• Promote teamwork and quality service; may interact with guests occasionally.
