Job summary

Independence Village New Hudson is seeking a full-time Line Cook to prepare food for residents and their guests, following menus, recipes and planned events. This role offers two shift options: 7:30am–4:30pm or 9:30am–6:30pm.

You will work with other kitchen staff to ensure freshness, proper seasoning, and portioning, stock and clean the station, and maintain safety and sanitation. The employer highlights opportunities for advancement and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High School diploma (or equivalent) or technical school.
• A minimum of three years of line cook experience and/or training.
• Good communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Cook and prepare food for residents, guests, and employees.
• Prepare food according to the planned menu using standard recipes.
• Plate food items following portion guidelines and garnishing instructions.
• Assist other kitchen staff as needed; perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Ensure sufficient food is prepped and/or prepared.
• Communicate shortages or outages to supervisor.
• Ensure freshness, proper cooking status, and seasoning of all foods served.
• Stock and clean station for next shift.
• Follow proper food rotation policies.
• Maintain a positive, team-focused attitude.
• Promote positive relations with residents, family, and guests.
• Uphold resident rights, privacy, dignity, and well-being in a safe environment.
• Maintain safety and sanitation; follow fire/safety plans and risk management.
• Clean and inspect kitchen appliances and work areas.
• Present a professional appearance with uniform and name tag.
