About the Position

As a Line Cook, you will be responsible for enhancing the overall Resident experience through exceptional food production and control of the quality and quantity of all food items prepared in the station, such as meats, vegetables, potatoes, bread products, desserts, etc. The Line Cook is expected to model The Sterling Touch professional, friendly, courteous, helpful, and timely manner, resulting in a very high level of satisfaction for Residents and their guests. The position is under the guidance of the Executive Chef and adheres to Community standards, processes, procedures, practices, and philosophy.

Qualifications and Requirements

The Line Cook must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • Culinary Arts or Culinary Apprenticeship, preferred.
  • One or more years of experience cooking in a fast-paced, cook-to-order kitchen, preferred.
  • One or more years of experience with scratch cooking, preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English to direct, manage, hire, and train kitchen staff, complete requisitions, read recipes, and communicate effectively with employees, Residents, and guests.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to use all kitchen equipment and utensils (e.g., knives, spoons, spatulas, tongs, slicers, etc.).
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, crouch, bend, stoop, reach, grasp, push, pull, and work continuously without sitting for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift or carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform all essential functions within varying temperature ranges.
