Job summary

The Gerard Group, Inc is seeking a dependable Professional Line Cook to prepare and present quality food to Virginia Diner standards in a fast-paced kitchen.

Responsibilities include setting up stations, preparing ingredients, cooking with the team, and maintaining safety and sanitation while delivering timely, high-quality dishes. Availability for nights and weekends is required.

Qualifications

  • Proven cooking experience, including line or prep cook work.
  • Strong knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures.
  • Ability to arrive on time and work nights/weekends; ServSafe a plus.

Description

We are looking for a dependable and team-oriented Professional Line Cook to prepare and present quality food to the level of Virginia Diner standards. Line Cook duties will include assisting the Kitchen Managers with their daily tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies
  • Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
  • Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
  • Answer, report, and follow the Manager instructions
  • Clean up the station and take care of leftover food
  • Stock inventory appropriately
  • Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality, and in a timely fashion
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
  • Ability to arrive to work on time and be ready to work your shift
Requirements
  • Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line cook or prep cook
  • Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
  • Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
  • Familiar with the industry’s best practices
  • A culinary school diploma or ServSafe certification is a plus
  • Able to work nights and weekends (Mon-Thurs approx. 8pm, Fri-Sun approx. 9pm)
