Position Summary

Line Cooks are responsible for high-quality preparation, cooking, and production of

dishes during service according to menu and recipe specifications.

Overview of Responsibilities

  1. Prepare and produce a variety of high-quality dishes as per guest orders, following approved recipes & specifications accurately and in a timely manner.
  2. Perform work on different kitchen stations as per business demands.
  3. Cook menu items in alignment with the kitchen team to deliver dishes simultaneously at the appropriate time.
  4. Weigh and measure ingredients; properly use recipes to produce dishes up to standard.
  5. Maintain a thorough working knowledge of recipes, ingredients, allergens, and food presentation.
  6. Ensure that food quality, quantity, freshness, and presentation meet City Winery standards.
  7. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the department, adhere to safe work and equipment practices, and follow all food safety, health, and sanitation standards.
  8. Properly store and discard leftover food.
  9. Set up, stock stations, and replenish kitchen inventory and supplies as needed.
  10. Label, date, initial, cover, and rotate all products and prepared items following FIFO principles.
  11. Exhibit mindfulness of volume due to the open kitchen setting.
  12. Follow all company policies, procedures, and guidelines, including being ready to work at scheduled shift times, in uniform, with a neat and presentable appearance.
  13. Perform all other reasonably assigned duties.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Line Cook in a full-service, high-volume, fast-paced kitchen or food service environment.
  2. Strong work ethic, team player, and customer-focused approach.
  3. Excellent knife skills and proficiency in all aspects of cooking.
  4. Demonstrated experience with various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
  5. Working knowledge and understanding of health, safety, and sanitation standards.
  6. Ability to follow and execute recipes to designated specifications.
  7. Ability to take direction.
  8. Ability to work in a clean, organized, and efficient manner in a high-pressure environment.
  9. Ability to work resourcefully and proactively resolve issues.
  10. Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
  11. Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build positive relationships within the scope of employment.
  12. Polished presentation.
  13. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  14. Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  15. Ability to perform physical requirements of the role including standing/walking for the entire shift, bending, pulling, pushing, using stairs, lifting, and carrying up to 50 lbs.
