Description

The Foodservice Worker will prepare and cook large batches of food that will be served to employees.

Role and Responsibilities

  1. Clean, cut, prepare, and cook meat, fish, or poultry to a safe temperature.
  2. Prepare and cook various items according to menus, or number of portions to be served.
  3. Bakes breads, rolls, and pastries.
  4. Distributes and serves food to employees.
  5. Washes cooking equipment, such as pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and other pieces.
  6. Develops, compiles, and maintains food records regarding use and expenditures.
  7. Inventories supplies and equipment.
  8. Ensures the cleanliness and functional operation of equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas by routinely cleaning and inspecting each piece.
  9. Clears, cleans and sanitizes work stations.
  10. Operates grill, broiler, or deep fryer to prepare specific foods.
  11. Follow all GMP and Food Safety Standards.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. Illinois Sanitation License required.
  3. Basic understanding of, or ability to learn, basic sanitation and regulations for workplace safety.
  4. Basic understanding of, or ability to learn, food handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures.
  5. 1+ years of related café/kitchen experience.

Candidates should be self-starters with a strong work ethic and the ability to prioritize their workload to ensure timely issue resolution. In addition, this individual should possess the following skills:

  1. Communication: Effectively conveys information and expresses thoughts and facts. Demonstrates effective use of listening skills and displays openness to other’s ideas and thoughts.
  2. Customer and Personal Service: Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  3. Food Production: Knowledge of techniques and equipment for planting, growing, and harvesting food products (both plant and animal) for consumption, including storage/handling techniques.
  4. Organization: Organize and prioritize your own actions efficiently. Be flexible and react favorably to multiple priorities, changing schedules and daily assignments while paying attention to detail.
