Job description

The purpose of a Line Cook is to prepare and cook food that meets the hotel’s standards and quality. A Line Cook operates under a chef in a restaurant or food establishment, responsible for carrying out duties assigned by the Chef. This includes assisting with breakfast, lunch, dinner, banquets, and room service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Know all menu items on scheduled shift (am/pm).
  • Prepare all ingredients before service begins.
  • Operate station efficiently and safely.
  • Practice serve-safe methods in preparing, cooking, holding, and storing food.
  • Perform repetitive work as needed.
  • Focus on pantry items, prepping, sandwiches, salads, and desserts.
  • Follow opening and closing procedures.
  • Work in a high-paced, hot environment.
  • Keep workspace stocked.
  • Follow written or verbal instructions.
  • Handle and store food properly.
  • Prepare food according to recipes and quality standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and food sanitation standards.
  • Manage guest orders courteously and efficiently.
  • Know menu and food products well.
  • Inspect all food sent from the kitchen visually.
  • Prepare requisitions for supplies and food items as needed.
  • Maintain attendance and punctuality.
  • Maintain personal appearance and grooming according to dress code.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
