A Leading company in the culinary field is seeking a Line Cook who can efficiently operate with minimal supervision. Candidates should have familiarity with kitchen equipment, a friendly attitude, and a willingness to adhere to food safety protocols. Responsibilities include preparing meals, maintaining a clean workspace, and exhibiting excellent service skills to both staff and guests.
We need a line cook who knows their way around a kitchen with minimal supervision. You’ll be responsible for preparing items for sale to pre-set specifications: some knife skills and attention to detail are required. You’ll need to follow all safety protocols in the kitchen and keep your workstation clean and equipment sanitized throughout your shift. You must be able to read recipe directions and labels in English and operate a variety of kitchen equipment, including sharp knives and measuring tools. Some lifting, pulling, and bending are required. Some kitchen experience and a 2-year associate's degree are preferred but not required. If this sounds like a fit for you, we’d love to meet. Responsibilities: • Read recipe measurements, meal charts, label instructions in English, and use the correct measuring tools • Abide by food safety guidelines and implement COVID-19 safety measures in all food prep areas and stations where food is prepared and kitchen equipment is used • Maintain a clean, organized prep area and workstation at all times, and sanitize equipment after each shift or when we close • Assist other cooks in the kitchen as needed with preparing simple recipes such as soups, sauce reduction, and brewing coffee and tea • Always be Barona NICE to fellow staff and players; find every opportunity to offer a friendly smile, wave, and greeting. • Friendly personality with a positive “can-do” attitude. • Exhibit excellent player service skills to Barona’s players, friends, and family. • Willingness to clarify any unclear instructions on food tickets with the manager. • Arrive at work fully dressed, including your hat, apron, and current gaming badge • Clock in and be ready to work in your area at your scheduled time. • Practice safe food handling techniques, including HACCP principles and State of California health codes as inspected by the Indian Gaming Health Service. • Gather necessary cookware, portioning utensils, and food items for the shift. • Practice proper product storage and product rotation (First In, First Out). • Follow proper cleaning procedures. • Assure that your station has correct food temperatures, and the area surrounding is clean and well-stocked with necessary equipment, plates, and utensils. • Report any incidents or problems at the stations to the supervisor on duty. • Try to anticipate problems by being proactive and having a sense of urgency. • Possess good knife skills, including safe knife handling and special tool handling principles. • Follow the proper cleaning procedure. • Follow proper breakdown and closing procedures. • At the end of the shift, all food is to be covered, labeled, and placed in the walk-in or appropriate storage. Qualifications: • Basic familiarity with operating kitchen equipment • Should be able to stand on your feet for long periods of time and also bend, pull, and lift 35-50 pounds • We’d like you to have some kitchen experience and associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent, but it’s not necessary • Understanding of how to read recipes, meal charts, measuring tools, and labels in English • Familiarity with different cooking techniques such as grilling, sauteeing, braising, roasting, blanching, and frying is required. • Familiarity with American casual cuisine preferred. Compensation: $18.55 per hour
