Job Overview

The Spring Island Club Line Cook is responsible for preparing a variety of food items, including meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, sauces, and stocks, following the Club’s standard recipes. The role involves using various equipment and utensils and reporting directly to the Executive Chef.

Essential Functions
  1. Take inventory of items needed for station setup and preparation.
  2. Prepare food items according to standard recipes.
  3. Coordinate and time orders with other kitchen staff.
  4. Requisition necessary ingredients for menu items.
  5. Notify the Sous Chef of potential shortages.
  6. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment.
  7. Set up, maintain, and break down the prep station.
  8. Store leftover products properly, with dates.
  9. Recommend maintenance and repair for kitchen equipment and areas.
  10. Close the kitchen following the closing checklist.
  11. Participate in kitchen staff meetings and suggest improvements.
  12. Assist with additional duties as assigned by the Sous Chef.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to prepare menu items for members and guests.
  • Adherence to health and food safety regulations.
  • Operate and clean kitchen machinery safely.
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures and safety protocols.
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Two-year culinary school certification preferred.
  • At least two years of kitchen preparation and cooking experience preferred.
Physical Requirements

This role involves exerting up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally, standing for long periods, and exposure to hot and cold environments. It requires good vision, hearing, and physical dexterity.
