The Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove (WVHUG) is recruiting a Limited Term Employment Cook to support our long‑term care facility, which provides comfort, support, and professional healthcare services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses.
Work is medium to heavy in nature: push carts up to 500 pounds; lift and carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds; stand and/or walk up to 100 % of an eight‑hour shift; twist, stoop, bend, reach, climb stairs, and operate in tight spaces between hot and moving equipment; perform tasks requiring manual dexterity; and distinguish colors, taste, and smell.
Starting wage for Cook 1 is $19.05 per hour; Cook 2 is $20.55 per hour.
No employee benefits are provided for this position.
Four hour schedule: Part‑Time 24 hours per week. LTE jobs are limited to 1039 hours in a 12‑month period, are based on operational need, and can end at any time.
WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment. Employment is contingent upon passing a pre‑employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.
Per Wisconsin Statute 230.26, Wisconsin residency is required for LTE appointments.
The required qualification is food preparation and general cooking.
