University of Arizona's Department of Systems & Industrial Engineering seeks an instructor for SIE 502 Ontological Modeling for Systems Engineering. The 3-unit course runs each Fall and is open to SE students and other engineering students as an elective.

Lectures will be delivered remotely. The ideal candidate has academic or industry experience in ontological modeling and applying ontologies to systems engineering; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Qualifications

• PhD in engineering or closely related discipline.
• Experience with ontological modeling and applications to systems engineering.
• Teaching experience in higher education or industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach one section of SIE 502 Ontological Modeling for Systems Engineering.
• Prepare and deliver instructional materials and guide/lead class activities in Brightspace’s D2L.
• Ensure learning objectives are met through assessments (quizzes, homework, exams, projects).
• Establish and adhere to grading rubrics for clear expectations.
• Provide timely feedback to students on submissions.
• Collaborate with TA/graders to ensure consistent evaluation.
• Maintain course materials in the LMS for remote students.
• Work with instructional designer to optimize materials per Quality Matters.

The Department of Systems & Industrial Engineering is seeking an instructor for its Ontological Modeling for Systems Engineering course. This 3-unit course is offered every Fall semester and is taken by systems engineering students as well as other students in the college of engineering who wish to take it as a technical elective.

The instructor will prepare lecture materials, student assessments (quizzes, home work assignments, exams, projects, etc.), and deliver lectures remotely.

The ideal candidate will have academic and/or industry experience in ontological modeling and application of ontologies to systems engineering.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Teach one section of SIE 502 Ontological Modeling forSystems Engineering
• Prepare and deliver instructional materials and guide/leadclass activities in Brightspace’s D2L
• Ensure successful delivery of the course's learningobjectives through the creation and dissemination of students assessments(e.g., quizzes, homework, exams, projects, etc.)
• Establish and adhere to grading rubrics to ensure studentsunderstand grading expectations
• Provide timely feedback to students on their submittedassignments
• If provided, collaborate with Teaching Assistant or graderto ensure uniform evaluation of student work
• Maintain course materials in the University's chosenLearning Management System that is optimized for remote students
• Work with instructional designer to optimize coursematerials using Quality Matters standards for online learning
