Job summary

The Benton County Sheriff's Office seeks dedicated individuals for the Limited Duty Jail Deputy role. You will help maintain order and security in the county jail, assist with admissions and releases, and document custody activities to ensure compliance with procedures and legal requirements.

This on-call position is limited to 1,040 hours per fiscal year and requires no prior experience as training is provided.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• 18 years of age at time of hire.
• Valid State issued Driver's License with good driving record.
• Successfully pass a background investigation, medical evaluation, and, if applicable, a psychological exam.
• First Aid and CPR certifications within 3 months of hiring.
• Must pass POST by a minimum of 70% (Math, Reading, Grammar, Writing).

Responsibilities

• Maintain order, discipline and security of the County Jail.
• Assist in processing persons into and releasing them from the jail.
• Document daily events and custody information; maintain custody logs and reports.
• Maintain relations with attorneys, the court and the public; handle inquiries.
• Distribute medicines and follow medical orders as directed by facility staff.
• Support rehabilitative programming and counseling referrals for adults in custody.
