Overview
We are seeking a self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented Quotations Specialist / Estimator to join our inside sales team.
The ideal candidate will be a critical thinker and self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, solution-driven environment. This role provides key support in developing accurate project quotations, solving customer and project-related challenges, and helping secure profitable commercial lighting projects.
The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of commercial lighting and lighting controls, experience with lighting or electrical estimating, and the ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, addenda, and lighting fixture schedules.
Education/Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in lighting or electrical estimating is required.
- Construction management experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of commercial lighting and lighting controls.
- Construction industry experience with the ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
- Associate degree or equivalent industry experience is preferred.
- Experience working with manufacturers, suppliers, contractors, sales teams, or project management teams is a plus.
Skills/Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of commercial lighting products and lighting controls.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, addenda, and lighting fixture schedules.
- Ability to develop accurate lighting bills of materials.
- Strong estimating, pricing, and quotation skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong understanding of project pricing and profitability.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and customer accounts simultaneously.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet strict bid deadlines.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
- Familiarity with Oasis, Cahill, Excel, Smartsheet, and Bluebeam is a plus.
- Eagerness to learn products, systems, and technical processes.
Responsibilities
Estimating & Quotations
- Review plans, specifications, addenda, customer requests, and lighting fixture schedules.
- Prepare detailed and accurate lighting bills of materials.
- Develop project pricing and quotations within required deadlines.
- Provide budget pricing and estimating support to the outside sales team.
- Work with the sales team to develop and strategize competitive bids.
- Meet all bid date and project quotation deadlines.
- Manage project pricing to support maximum profitability.
Manufacturer & Supplier Coordination
- Correspond with manufacturers to obtain accurate pricing for project products.
- Understand manufacturer pricing structures, policies, and requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with manufacturer partners.
- Research products and identify appropriate solutions for project requirements.
Sales & Customer Support
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and outside sales representatives.
- Support the sales team throughout the quotation and bidding process.
- Communicate clearly with customers, sales personnel, manufacturers, and internal departments.
- Utilize critical thinking to resolve customer and project-related challenges.
- Assist with product substitutions, technical support requests, and submittals.
Project Handoff & Coordination
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure a smooth handoff after a project is awarded.
- Communicate project details, pricing information, product requirements, and customer expectations to project management teams.
- Work closely with technical support and project management teams on substitution requests and submittals.
- Maintain clear and accurate project documentation.
Project & Profitability Management
- Monitor project financials and pricing to help maximize profitability.
- Maintain accurate quotation and project information.
- Manage multiple projects across multiple customer accounts.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure projects remain organized and on schedule.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a commercial lighting or electrical estimator with 3-5 years of estimating experience and a strong understanding of lighting products, lighting controls, construction plans, and specifications.
The strongest candidates will have experience preparing lighting BOMs, project quotations, budget pricing, bids, and manufacturer pricing, while working closely with outside sales and project management teams.
Candidates with experience using Bluebeam, Excel, Smartsheet, Oasis, Cahill, or similar estimating/project management tools will be especially well suited.
