Job summary

The Lighting Project Designer at The Freeman Company leads planning and coordination of lighting for produced events and acts as the local expert on current gear and emerging tech. The role educates technical and sales staff, show-site teams, and branch management on equipment issues while interfacing with multiple branches and warehouse teams.

Position is in-person/full-time, primarily in-office or show-site, across Las Vegas, San Diego, San Francisco, Los Angeles, or Seattle.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in lighting production with at least 5 years in corporate events, entertainment, or theater.
• Ability to engineer instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Experience with conventional, LED, moving lighting fixtures, and lighting consoles.

Responsibilities

• Develop lighting designs and coordinate pre-production, on-site, and post-production activities in line with event budget.
• Create wiring diagrams and lighting plots for shows; ensure on-site personnel have and understand this information.
• Oversee equipment logistics and gear use to optimize resource utilization and minimize cross-rentals.
