Job summary

Sound Image in Milwaukee, WI is seeking a Lighting Programming and Commissioning Technician responsible for programming, configuring, testing, and troubleshooting lighting systems on projects to ensure design intent and safety. The role requires interpreting CSI drawings, working with ETC and Color Kinetic control systems, and coordinating with engineering to deliver high-quality outputs on site.

Qualifications

• At least three (3) years field installation experience OR at least three (3) years lighting programming, configuration and commissioning experience
• Advanced knowledge of ETC, Color Kinetic control Systems
• Strong understanding of control protocols such as DMX, sACN, ArtNet, RDM, and other protocols
• Knowledge of electrical systems and safety
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Certifications are a plus

Responsibilities

• Understand project expectations, timeline, and scope of work
• Read and interpret CSI and architectural/engineering drawings
• Learn and apply CSI lighting installation and technical standards
• Program lighting control systems, consoles, and devices to meet specs
• Configure and test lighting systems for seamless operation and high-quality output
• Assist in lighting system design including control layouts and cue structures
• Configure lighting IT networks for installed systems
• Submit End of Day updates to management
• Troubleshoot and service installed lighting systems
• Train end users on installed lighting systems
• Provide customer service on job sites and link with CSI sales/engineering
• Document technical changes to installed systems
• Provide product related support and guidance

Function

The Lighting Programming and Commissioning Technician is responsible for overseeing the success of individual lighting projects by ensuring the lighting system is fully functional, safe, and aligned with design intent before use. Primary responsibilities include project lighting system programming and system setup including networking configurations. As well as in-shop or onsite lighting equipment support, system testing, and vetting. This role reports to the Engineering Manager.

• Learn and apply CSI lighting installation and technical standards
• Program lighting control systems, consoles, and devices to meet creative and technical specifications.
• Configure and test lighting systems to ensure seamless operation and high-quality output.
• Assist in lighting system design, including control layouts, patching, cue structures, and protocol planning
• Configure lighting IT networks when needed for installed lighting systems
