Job description

SUMMARY
At Outdoor Lighting Perspectives, the Lighting Technician will be responsible for the installation of low voltage outdoor lighting systems generally in residential settings.


About Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Greater Chattanooga (OLP)
OLP is the nation’s largest outdoor lighting company that specializes only in exterior lights. Our customers fall into three categories of installation: residential, commercial, and holiday. We take meticulous care in installing the finest American-made products and provide extensive warranties and exceptional service. OLP markets to a sophisticated customer; therefore, candidates will be required to have a clean appearance that supports OLP’s image, including being well-groomed and wearing OLP logoed shirts.


Scope of Hours
Work is hourly, as needed, and should generally be between 35 and 42 hours. Most work must be completed during daylight hours. Occasional evening work and Saturdays are required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Installation of lighting systems in accordance with plans
  • Speaking with the customer to up-sell other products or services
  • Providing customers with system orientation if possible
  • Proper care and operation of company vehicles
  • Inventory management and replenishment
  • Running and burying low voltage wiring in landscape areas and lawns
  • Mounting transformers and connecting wire runs
  • Installation and load-checking of low voltage transformers
  • Clean up of all areas affected by installation
  • Providing direction and/or assistance to other installers when applicable
  • Educating clients about additional products and services

OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED TO MEET BUSINESS NEEDS

  • Assisting with home shows
  • Transporting marketing materials
  • Neighborhood marketing (hanging door tags), distributing flyers
  • Maintenance and organization of storage facility

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & ATTRIBUTES

  • Has a driver’s license with a clean driving record (no moving violations or accidents in the last three years)
  • Makes a good first impression by being well-groomed, articulate, personable, and comfortable with meeting new people
  • Enjoys interacting with customers with respect and integrity
  • Attention to detail and respect for our customers' property

  • In-depth training and support by OLP will provide necessary knowledge of lighting products, installations, and repair techniques
  • Knowledge of Windows operating system
  • Ability to lift and carry up to forty pounds
  • Ability to use a trenching shovel for extended periods
  • Skill with hand tools such as drills, saws, and screwdrivers
  • Ability to apply training to diagnosing and repairing lighting systems
  • Organized with attention to quality management
  • Personable and presentable; able to discuss, explain, and upsell clients
  • Above average technical ability
  • High finger, hand-arm, and manual dexterity

WORK CONTEXT

  • Telephone used periodically to coordinate with supervisors and clients
  • Tools will be provided by the company but must be properly maintained
  • Work may be conducted by a team or a solitary installer
  • Work is conducted outdoors
  • Work requires standing for extended periods
  • Installations must conform to strict quality standards

EDUCATION & REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Selected candidates will undergo background checks, Department of Motor Vehicle check, and drug testing.
