Job summary

CMTA Energy Solutions is offering a Lighting Design Intern/Co-op Spring 2027 in Fairfax, VA. The program provides hands-on experience with LED lighting upgrades, site visits, audits, energy calculations, and construction documents.

You will work under professional engineers, collaborate with project managers, and gain exposure to multiple ESPC projects, from development through implementation, preparing you for full-time roles in lighting design.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BSEE, preferably a sophomore (2nd year) or junior (3rd year).
• CAD experience is helpful but not required
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word & Excel
• Ability to work both independently and as a team member and
• Ability to travel for field work.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all aspects of the project development phase – including site visits, building audits
• Energy calculations in relation to lighting upgrades
• Produce detailed construction documents using CAD for LED lighting upgrades
• Support material procurement and construction management staff during implementation of lighting upgrades
• Field verify proper installation and implementation of LED lighting upgrades
