Salary Range: $18.00 To $20.00 Hourly

Summary

The Light Installation Technician Trainee supports the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of fueling systems and service station equipment, including tank, piping, and dispenser installation, as well as ongoing service and troubleshooting of fuel dispensers, pumps, underground storage tanks, and related mechanical and electrical systems. This role works under the direction of a Construction Foreman or Service Supervisor while developing proficiency across both installation and service functions.

Responsibilities

• Ensures compliance with all relevant safety standards, protocols, and regulations.
• Supports installation of tanks, piping, dispensers, and related mechanical systems used to operate fueling facilities.
• Conducts routine inspections of service station facilities to identify maintenance needs.
• Performs troubleshooting and repairs on fuel dispensers, pumps, underground storage tanks, lighting systems, POS consoles, and other equipment.
• Executes preventative maintenance tasks such as filter replacements, equipment lubrication, and system calibration.
• Closely follows directions to operate machinery, hold or supply materials and tools, and load or unload items on machinery.
• May be trained to act as machine operator when the normal operator is unavailable.
• Responds promptly to service calls and emergency situations, which may occur outside traditional work hours.
• Performs start-ups of retail and commercial fueling stations.
• Completes daily reports, paperwork, and submits construction site pictures as required.
• Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inventory, and service histories.
• Reports issues to supervisors or higher-level employees.
• Attends seminars and workshops to improve performance.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and clean driving record; able to safely operate a construction truck.
• Physically fit, capable of heavy work including continuously lifting/moving materials up to 75 lbs. from floor to shoulder height.
• Must be capable of climbing ladders to install and retrieve equipment.
• Job requires frequent kneeling, bending, handling, reaching, standing, and squatting.
• Ability to lift and remove a manhole cover.
• Legible handwriting and ability to complete forms and reports accurately.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to multitask.
• Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions; able to work in a variety of roles.
• Must be articulate and possess a friendly, professional tone with internal and external customers and staff.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Obtain and maintain certifications from original equipment manufacturers.

Experience

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education required.
• Technical certification or vocational training in mechanical or electrical systems preferred.
• Manual labor experience: 2 years preferred.
• Construction work experience: 2 years preferred.
• Experience measuring and cutting lumber for concrete forms.
• Experience cutting asphalt and concrete with a gas-powered chop saw.
• Experience working alongside excavator/heavy equipment operators (not operating, but supporting).
• OSHA Certification highly desirable.
• Experience with petroleum equipment/service industry is a plus, but not required.
