Job summary

AVIATOR PAVING COMPANY CHARLOTTE LLC seeks a skilled equipment operator to operate backhoes, rollers, street sweepers, and various light machinery on active sites. You will assist with site development, grading, and paving operations, and support underground utility projects with careful adherence to plans and safety protocols.

The role requires a valid driver’s license, 2+ years of experience, and the ability to read grade stakes and site plans.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience operating light construction equipment preferred.
• Experience in site development, underground utilities, grading, or paving operations is preferred.
• Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus.
• Ability to safely operate multiple types of light construction equipment.
• Basic understanding of construction plans, grading, and excavation practices.
• Read and follow grade stakes, site plans, and supervisor instructions.
• Conduct daily pre-operation and post-operation inspections and basic maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Operate backhoes, rollers/compactors, street sweepers, small loaders and other light equipment.
• Prepare sites by clearing, grading, and compacting for paving.
• Assist with excavation and backfilling for underground utilities.
• Sweep roadways and construction sites during paving operations.
• Follow safety policies, OSHA regulations and environmental requirements.
• Read grade stakes, site plans, and supervisor instructions.
• Maintain clean and organized work area.
