Job summary

Guardian Fleet Services in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a Light-Duty Tow Truck Driver who will be the face of the company on the roadside, performing tow operations, roadside service, and vehicle transports with professionalism and safety.

This role requires strong driving ability, mechanical know-how, and the ability to pass drug screening and background checks, along with excellent communication with customers and dispatch.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license (Class E or equivalent); CDL not required.
• Clean driving record meeting company and insurance requirements.
• Prior towing or similar vehicle experience preferred but not required.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Ability to operate tow equipment safely and efficiently.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills.
• Ability to pass drug screening and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Operate light‑duty tow trucks (flatbed/rollback and wheel‑lift) to tow or transport passenger vehicles.
• Perform roadside services such as jump‑starts, tire changes, lockouts, and fuel deliveries.
• Load, secure, and transport vehicles in accordance with company and DOT safety standards.
• Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections and report mechanical issues promptly.
• Communicate with dispatch regarding job status, delays, hazards, and customer needs.
• Provide professional customer service, including explaining procedures and ensuring customer safety.
• Complete required paperwork, digital logs, and service documentation accurately.
• Maintain a clean, organized truck and equipment.
• Respond to calls during nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

Physical Requirements

• Lift, pull, and carry 50–75 lbs. regularly (dollies, tie‑downs, toolboxes, vehicle parts).
• Operate winches, levers, and manual controls requiring upper‑body strength.
• Push or maneuver disabled vehicles in tight spaces when necessary.
• Perform repeated bending, kneeling, climbing, and crouching during loading and service tasks.
