  • Must possess a valid driver's license and meet the MVR qualifications as outlined in the Fleet Safety Program.

Summary of Job Purpose

Lift Operations is a team-oriented department focused on providing our guests with excellent customer service on the mountain. In addition to maintaining lift stations and assisting guests onto carriers, lift operators are hosts and information centers. This is a physically demanding position requiring long hours and working in inclement weather. The Lift Operations Supervisors support the department staff and guests, as directed, in achieving the objectives of the department. This is a KEY member of the Dodge Ridge Team.


Job Duties and Responsibilities

Duties:



  • Planning.

  • Schedule work accordingly.

  • Set goals and objectives and develop action plans.

  • Set priorities and complete tasks in a timely matter.

  • Foresee problems and opportunities.

  • Oversee all lift stations.

  • Lift Operator lunch/bathroom breaks

  • Ramp maintenance

  • Plan, prepare, deliver, document and file all training on lift operators.

  • Assist lift maintenance under their direction and training.

  • Prepare lift operators for inspections and interviews from State, USFS and Insurance Company.

  • Requires knowledge that all lifts and mountain are operational and that the operating personnel are equipped and fit to perform their duties.

  • Review daily, all lift incident report forms and report any potential problems to the lift operations manager.

  • Follow ANSI B77.1 requirements.

  • Documentation safety meetings.

  • Enforcement of safety rules.

  • Safe operation of our transport snow cat on designated routes.

  • Daily employee appearance inspections.

  • Communication with other departments.

  • Demonstrate an on-going commitment to delivering excellent customer service. This involves interacting with guests in a courteous manner, and being able to answer questions professionally.

  • Working knowledge of emergency plan.

  • Maintain clean, safe and professional workstations.

  • Maintain any appropriate records as set forth by company policy and procedures.

  • Recognize and correct any safety hazards within the lift operations department.

  • Shoveling snow, sometimes heavy wet snow. Heavy and awkward lifting of items up to 50 lbs. Walking and working on uneven ground, deep powder, icy and wet surfaces.

  • Provide timely and accurate information concerning weather conditions, grooming or slope conditions,

  • Communicate problems to superiors, while showing initiative in handling routine and emergency matters.

Work Schedules

Weather conditions and the number of guests play a large role in the work scheduling of Dodge Ridge employees.


When conditions are normal, you may be expected to work 40 up to 48 hours per week, including weekends and holidays. During busy periods, you may be expected to work six (6) days a week.


You must arrange for transportation to work so that you arrive at your designated workstation at the scheduled time. Keep in mind that you will often be required to drive on hilly, snowpacked, and icy road surfaces.


Working Conditions

At any time during the ski season, Dodge Ridge employees are often required to perform their tasks in high winds, heavy snowfalls, low visibility, rain, and extremely cold or warm temperatures.


Work is typically outside working directly with resort guests and other resort staff members. It can be noisy, cold, wet, or humid. You may be expected to work in high places and frequently you will work around moving objects.


Uniforms

To project a professional appearance at Dodge Ridge, your department requires a uniform be worn, including a nametag. Please wear both at all times during your scheduled shift.


We will provide most of the uniform for you to do your job. However, you will be required to provide some items as part of your job, as listed below. (We strongly encourage you to contact your supervisor for a description of the quality, color, and style of the items you are required to provide before you purchase them.)

  • Warm boots with Vibram soles

  • Ski / snowboard equipment and ski bindings that pass a binding function test (you should be aware you are responsible for any damage to your equipment while at work.


The skiing/riding employee represents a model for safe skiing for both the guest and fellow employees. You are required to be aware of all safe skiing procedures, trail closures, and out-of-bounds policies.
