Job summary

Indiana University Health in Bloomington, IN is seeking a Full Time Float Paramedic for day shifts (7a–7p). The role spans multiple bases with flexible, evolving conditions, and includes potential for additional float pay and shift differentials.

The position requires Indiana Paramedic license with ACLS/BLS/PALS, EMT-P, and BLS upon hire, plus EVOC and NIMS certifications during probation. Prior ALS paramedic experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • ACLS;BLS;PALS;EMT-P Indiana Paramedic license required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required upon hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or its equivalency to be obtained within initial probationary period.
  • Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) or its equivalency must be obtained within initial probationary period.
  • NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800 to be obtained within initial probationary period.
  • Minimum of 1 year ALS Paramedic experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Care for ill/injured patients in emergency and non-emergency settings across multiple bases.
  • Relaying and receiving information regarding patient condition and care.
  • Complying with regulatory requirements, department policies, safety policies, and scope of practice as Paramedic (Indiana).
  • May drive ambulance to and from referral hospital and transport patients as needed.
  • May obtain consents and authorizations from patients or guardians; record ambulance run times.
  • May process billing and daily reports.

Full Time Float, Days (7a-7p) - Bloomington, IN

The team strives to provide as much advance notice as possible, though assignments may occasionally come at short notice. This role works across multiple bases and offers a flexible, continuously evolving and educational environment. This position is eligible for additional float pay and shift differentials.


Responsible for the care, transport, and treatment of ill/injured patients in both emergency and non-emergency situations. Responsible for relaying and receiving information regarding the patient and patient condition. Responsible for complying with all regulatory requirements, departmental policy and practice, safety policies and practice, hospital policies, and operating within the scope of a Paramedic as defined by the state of Indiana. Must possess the required knowledge and skills to appropriately care for and manage neonatal, infant, pediatric, adult, and elderly patients. May be required to drive ambulance to and from referral hospital. May be required to transport patients. May be required to obtain consents and authorizations form patient or legal guardians. May be required to record time of ambulance run. May be required to process billing and daily reports.


A valid driver’s license and Motor Vehicle Record report may be required for this role. Consideration of employment for this role may be contingent upon the results of the Motor Vehicle Record report.
